This week has been so hectic. After driving back and forth from LA and Riverside, studying, working, and haggling with car salesmen in between it all, I am really really tired. And the upcoming weekend is going to be even more packed! I must complain for a bit and say that I don’t have a moment to myself. I only watched 1/2 of a movie this week! From my usual rate of 1 movie per night, this week’s log is going to .. FAIL.
Anyways, though I was a self-involved ishhhh all week (I’ve been quite cranky to my peers and haven’t done one qt this week) God has shown me much grace. He has allowed me to get a great car for a great price that I can afford all on my own! I would have never thought that I would be able to afford a new car by myself, being that I haven’t had any financial responsibilities before, and the other minor fact that I didn’t have a job. But God is good, and He made it possible for me to own a brand new 2009 VW GTI MKV!!!woohoO!~~~ Now my parents will be rest assured that I will be traveling safely in a new car during my long commutes…but that’s assuming that my manual driving improves!

Now does anyone know of any tint or stereo shops?!

It’s that time of the year…. when people think they should be doing something special or memorable on the day numbers repeat themselves… I don’t really remember what I did for 01/01/01 or 02/02/02 and so on, but I do remember last year’s 777 day. I attended a friend’s wedding. It was a sweet and blessing way to celebrate the ‘lucky’ date. I like the number 8, so I think I will use next Friday’s date as an excuse to go out and do something fun. What will you do for 08/08/08? Watch the opening ceremony of the Olympics(i wonder if it’s going to be televised on the 7th for us)? I know a friend who’s going to Vegas that weekend to test her luck. But for those of us staying in socal, here are some choices that sound appealing:

Last year, it was the 77 boadrum. This year, they’re coming back with 88Boadrum with 88 performers, starting at 8:08pm for 88 minutes. At the tarpits in LA, and the Williamsburg waterfront in NY. Exciting huh? Plus, the tickets are FREE at LACMA, Amoeba, or Brownpaperbag.com(toolazytolink). Last year’s performance in NY was HUGE. See the youtube clip here.

Peanut Butter Wolf is going to celebrate 8/08/08 by spinning at 8 different clubs on 8 different nights starting tonight, 8/01/08, then topping off the 8day week by performing at a private party. Each night he’s going to spin different genres, and no song(music video) is going to be repeated throughout the week. Sounds brilliant, just like him. I’m down to go to any of these parties, for sure. Intentionally cheesy youtube promo here.

888 Schedule of Events
8/1: Disco videos- Firecracker Block Party @ Grand Star
8/2: Oldies videos – Funky Sole @ Jimmy’s Lounge
8/3: House video – Do-Over @ Cranes
8/4: Boogie videos – Funkmosphere @ Carbon
8/5: Party rock videos – Dim Mak Tuesdays @ Cinespace
8/6: Reggae videos – Dub Club @ The Echoplex
8/7: Hip Hop videos – Rootdown @ Little Temple
8/8: Movie music videos – Private Party (Details TBA)

Shakespeare by the Sea has been going on throughout the summer, haven’t had the chance to actually get myself over to one of the parks that they’re performing at. I hear they’re really good though. Antony and Cleopatra is playing in San Pedro that night.

The Shakespeare performances at Barnsdall Park sound interesting too. Maybe if we’re in the mood for a little Jazz, we can stop by LACMA for their Friday night jazz sessions. The Long Beach Jazz Festival could be possibility, but the tickets are kinda expensive. Too bad the dodgers aren’t playing at home that night, that could have been another fun option.
Anything else going on that day?
